Clair Rudy Obituary
Clair A. Rudy, 88, of Pennsylvania Furnace passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.
Born February 15, 1930 in State College he was a son of the late Raymond and Malinda Rudy.
On October 31, 1947 he married Mabel L. Sunday who preceded him death on January 29, 2017 after celebrating 70 years of marriage.
Clair is survived by four sons and two daughters; Dean Rudy and his wife Linda, Tom Rudy, Kitty Stoner and her husband Barry, Barb Daughenbaugh and her husband Buddy, Terry Rudy and his wife Betty and Dan Rudy and his wife Kim; 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Parker and Gretta Klinefelter.
He was preceded in death by one son, Donald Clair Rudy; one daughter, Louise Ann Naugle and one granddaughter Michelle Lee Rudy; 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
Clair attended the State College School District- beginning in a one room school house. He served in the United States Army where he was a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He went on to build and own a successful construction business. Clair had a passion for family and never sidestepped hard work. His appreciation for the glory and bounty of nature was obvious. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being in the great outdoors. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Assoc., but what Clair valued most were the holiday weekends at the family camp.
Friends will be received from 10 AM until noon, Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. The funeral service will immediately follow at noon with Pastor Donna Snyder officiating and military honors in accord. Private burial will take place at Centre County Memorial Park.
