He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Schatz and Loretta Nissel Schatz; his children, Amy Schatz and Duane Schatz; his granddaughter Shannon Cooney; and his siblings, Charles "Merle" Schatz, Milton "Hovie" Schatz, Marlene Pichler, Christine Schatz, Thalia "Mickie" Huefner and Charlotte Vollmer.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Vollmer Schatz; his children, Pam Hasselman (Dick Cooney) of St. Marys, Lori Nussbaum (Dave) of St. Marys, Charlie Schatz (Debi) of St. Marys and Glenn Schatz (Tina) of Kersey; his grandchildren, John Cooney, Michelle Muccio-Krise (Roy), Tom Cooney (Lauren), Jason Nussbaum (Jake Hill), Lacy Nussbaum, Jarred Schatz (Kabrina), Shelbie Schlimm (Adam) and Jenna Schatz; and his sisters, Beverly Erich of St. Marys and Kathleen "Daisy" Rowley (Gil) of St. Marys. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
