He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathan H. Sr. Harkleroad and Dorothy Marie Harkleroad (Williams); his wife Carole E. (Lape); his son James R. Smith; his granddaughter Kellie Jo Clark; and his siblings, Patricia Dugay, Blair and Glenn Harkleroad.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Harkleroad (Robin) of Parker Colorado, Sherry L. Smith of Belleville, Lori A. Jackson of Mapleton, Laurie A. McConaughey (Duane Jr.) of Belleville and Jodi L. Smith of Mapleton; his siblings, Nathan Harkleroad Jr. (Betty) of Huntingdon, Sharon Suter of Mount Union and Jean Price of Huntingdon; and his close friend Louise Foust (Weezie). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
