He was predeceased by: his father James Ivan; his brothers, John Tilson and Edward Hays; and his siblings-in-law, Dana Hays, Donna Christner, Leroy Christner, Earl Christner Jr., Oliver Christner Sr. and Paul Austin Sr. James.
He is survived by: his mother Emma Lee Hays Sr. (Iams); his wife Henrietta Hays (Christner); his brother Robert Hays; and his siblings-in-law, Marlene Tilson, Cora Austin, Rose Christner and Harry Christner. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
