He was predeceased by: his mother Barbara Mae Lingenfelter Smith; his grandson Israel James Fenstermaker; his great grandchildren, Izabelle Renee Sturdivant and Taylor Mae Sturdivant; and his siblings, Barbara, Beatrice Wunz, Louise Hickman, Daniel Smith, Calvin Smith, Leonard Smith, Harry Smith and Robert Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret A. "Peggy" Kesterholt; his daughters, Joni Williams (Dan) of Reynoldsville, Marti Fenstermaker (Tim) of Reynoldsville, Valri Knoch of Brookville and Barbi Gadley (Terry) of Gainesville, FL; his sisters, Aldine Hecker and Ethel Hooper; and his grandchildren, Tricia Stallings (Levi), Khira Walker (Doug), Aubrey Sturdivant (Justin), Daniel Brewer (Angie), Jacob Gadley (Nicole) and Jamie Knoch (Seth Melton). He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.
