He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Merritt and Ada Ruth Merritt; his spouse Ardythe Lenox; and his siblings, Martha Nulf Chmielewski, Flora Carr, Frank, Arthur Merritt and Raymond Merritt.
He is survived by: his children, Susan Fields (Paul Fields) of DuBois and Daniel L. Merritt Jr. (Lori) of Kersey; his grandchildren, Tracy Schneider, David Mattiuz, Michelle Hitchcock, Jeffrey Fields, Eric Merritt and Brian Merritt; and his siblings, Bernice Coleson of Brockport, Edna Cribbs of Ridgway, Nancy Trumbull of Ridgway and Harry Merritt (Katherine) of Kersey. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
