She was predeceased by: her parents, Chockley Hackett Gilbert and Abana Mrytle Thompson Barrett; and her siblings, Thomas Barrett, Warren Richard Barrett, Betty Oswald, Charles Gilbert and Chockley Gilbert.
She is survived by: her children, Sharon Young (George), Carol Festerman (Dennis), B. J. Mitchell, John Mitchell and Christopher Beaumont; and her sister-in-law Helen V. Barrett. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
