She was predeceased by: her parents, Millard Lee and Florence Minnich Thompson; her husband William H. King; her siblings, Betty Simpson, Gladys Ortz and Millard Lee Thompson Jr.; her son-in-law Richard C. Carothers Jr.; and her stepgranddaughter Emily Carothers.
She is survived by: her children, William "Bill" King of New Bethlehem and Becky Carothers of Seneca; her stepgrandsons, Lukas Carothers (Katie) of Cranberry Township and Jacob Carothers (Maddy) of Oil City; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Maximus Carothers of Oil City, Charlie, Miles Carothers of Cranberry Township and Savannah Carothers of Cranberry Township; her siblings, Harriet O'Neil of Parker, Cathy Henry (Bob) of New Bethlehem and Ezra Thompson (Deb) of Leeper; and her siblings-in-law, Dee King of Parker, Barb King of St. Petersburg and Gary Ortz of New Bethlehem. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Shirley's memory to Grane Hospice of Pittsburgh, Pa., or St. Judes Children's Hospital.
