He was predeceased by: his parents, Duncan Pitney and Elaine Darlington Pitney Fowler; and his sister Jennifer Pitney Fabyan Lysle. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Dillworth Pitney (Lisa); his children, Mimi Pitney Melvin (Rory) of Bryn Mawr and Jack Pitney of Los Angeles; his grandsons, Win and Shields Melvin; and his brother Christopher Pitney (Angelique) of Calabasas, CA..

The family plans to hold a celebratory memorial in the coming months, once pandemic restrictions allow.
