Alberta Shepherd Obituary
Alberta Carter Shepherd, 81, of Paoli, PA passed away on Friday, November 30, 2007 at the Paoli Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Wesley Shepherd. Daughter of the late James E. and Isabelle Weiler Carter, Alberta was born and raised in Paoli. Accordingly, she received her primary education from the Tredyfferin Easttown Schools, graduating with the class of 1942.
Professionally, Alberta was employed for many years by the Byecroft and the Gibson families. From adolescence to her final moments with us on this earth, Alberta?s faith remained unfaltering as she always declared: ?I?m blessed in the Lord.? For most of her life Alberta was a devoted member of the New Hope Baptist Church of Paoli where she expressed her spiritual and religious satisfaction through service to the church.
There, she sang in the choir and was a Pastor?s Aid. For the last seven years of her life she was a member of the Main Line Christian Assembly where she was Mother of the Church. In her free time, Alberta enjoyed watching sports teams such as the Eagles and the Phillies, watching old game shows, and gardening. Much of her time was spent developing strong relationships with those in her life such as her endeared grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her one son, Alton R. Murden Jr. and his wife Eleanor Murden, one daughter, Brenda J. Perry, all of Paoli, two sisters, Mildred Johnson of Lansdale, PA and Mattie Wells of King of Prussia, PA, and one brother, James E. Carter, Jr. of Ardmore, PA. Also surviving are her 8 stepchildren, Jane Pettaway, Donna Brown, Elizabeth, Joyce, Jean, Linda, Patti and John W. Shepherd; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Alberta was preceeded in death by Sophia Saunders.
