He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy Bixler and Anna Bixler (Wiest). He is survived by: his wife Sandra Bixler (Rosensteel); his children, Jennifer Telesca (Keith) and Matthew Bixler (Laura); his grandchildren, Evelyn, Camryn, Hudson Bixler, Marielle and Zachary Telesca; and his sister Darlene Shearer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Anna and Guy Bixler Memorial Award in Food Science at Penn State University.
