He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert F., Sr. and Esther Devine (Stoudt); and his brothers, Rolland Shade, Richard Shade and Gerald Clemens.

He is survived by: his wife Deborah L. Devine (Gaul); his sons, Andrew R. Devine of Middletown and Patrick M. (Cynthia Devine) of Palmyra; and his brother Daniel J. Devine of Shartlesville. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
