He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Howard and Alice Marie Herron-Hayes; his son Timothy Charles Alex Hayes; and his sister Hazel Mele. He is survived by: his wife Sally Jo Hamilton Hayes; his children, Howard V. Hayes Jr. and Kimbra Rose Bertucci (Clifford Thomas); his granddaughters, Amanda Rose Salliotte (Daniel), Amy Marie Bertucci and Andrea Lynn Mitchell (Jaxon); and his great grandchildren, Madison Rose and Mackenzie Lou Mitchell.
