She was predeceased by: her parents, Newton McDowell and Della M. Hershour McDowell; and her siblings, Delmar McDowell, Marian Anderson and Deloris McClellan.
She is survived by: her husband John E. "Jack" Steele; and her children, John E. Steele, Jr. of Oxford and Connie Slauch (Peter Slauch) of Oxford. She is also survived by four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
