It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John E. Melrath (Oxford, Pennsylvania), who passed away on October 5, 2021, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Melrath and Alice Jackson Melrath; and his brothers, David, Earl and Ray Melrath.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Smith Melrath; his daughters, Jill Rutledge and Janelle Hadly; his children-in-law, Earl Rutledge and Davis Hadly; and his grandchildren, Mallory Rutt (Jerlin Rutt), Darren Rutledge, Elizabeth Hadly (Liz) and Reed Hadly. He is also survived by numerous nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Lighthouse Youth Center, 245 Commerce St., Oxford, PA 19363, or Oxford Athletic Association, P.O. Box 194, Oxford, PA 19363.

“It is with such deep heartache to learn of Jack's passing. I had the absolute pleasure of knowing Jack when we worked together. It was a joy to see and speak with him every day. Jack was sincerely the nicest man I had the pleasure to get to know. He was very understanding, extremely kind and caring, intelligent and sweet. I hoped my daughters and I could see Jack and his loving wife this summer, but with Covid we were not able. My sincere condolences to Brenda and Jack's family and friends.”
