He was predeceased by: his parents, Carson Hughes and Bonnie Peterson Hughes; his wife Barbara Harper Hughes; and his siblings, Alfred Hughes and Mary Tracy.
He is survived by: his children, Vickie Mathers (Chris) of Oxford, Michael Hughes (Suzanne) of Oxford, Avondale of Oxford, James Hughes (Tammy) of Oxford, Robert Hughes of Oxford, Christina Phillips of Oxford and Tim Hughes (Carrie) of Nottingham; and his siblings, Morris Hughes, Joyce Johnson, Geneva Noblit, Doris Horton and Edna Guy. He is also survived by twenty-seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
