He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Updike and Mary Updike (Harris); his son Frank L. Updike, Jr.; and his siblings, Dora Bishop, Jesse Estright, James, Donald, Ronald and Carl Updike.

He is survived by: his wife Catherine A. "Cathy" Updike (Howe); his children, Tammy L. Moore (Mickey) of Clearfield, PA and Michael F. Updike (Christina) of Osceola Mills, PA; and his grandson Bryson Updike.
