He was predeceased by: his parent Paul L.; and his brother Brian L. Wheeler. He is survived by: his parent Elizabeth T. Wheeler; his sister Deborah; his children, Matthew Wheeler and Hannah Wheeler of Washington, D. C.; his nieces and nephews, Scott Harris, Medford, Inara, Bergen Wheeler and Louisville; and also, Russell Harris, Reading and Tucson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. John's UCC, Orwigsburg, or Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine.
