He was predeceased by: his parents, Christina Hartzell (Gallen) and William Hartzell; his son Richard Jr.; his brother William Hartzell; and his sister-in-law Martha Palme.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Peggy" Hartzell (Sutton); his children, Andrew Hartzell (Marlene) and Christina Gogel; his granddaughters, Gabriella, Giavana and Serina Hartzell; his sisters, Patricia Cerritelli and Sue Fox; and his brothers-in-law, John Sutton (Kay) and Robert Palme. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
