He was predeceased by: his parent Bernice Stalder; and his brothers, Scott and William. He is survived by: his parent Richard Nelson; his spouse Linda L. Dionisi Nelson; his children, Richard Nelson and Tracey Amey; his grandchildren, Sammantha, Alex, Emily, Natalie and Riley; his sister Nancy Fritz; and also Fredericksburg.
