He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Mathna and Lucy Mathna (Nye); his wife Mildred "Millie" Mathna (Hill); and his siblings, Jay Mathna, Herbert "Dean" Mathna, Dallas Mathna and Vivian Dangler.
He is survived by: his sons, Melvin G. Mathna Jr. (Barb Moore) of Orrstown and James E. Mathna (Richard Myers) of Florida; and his siblings, Clark Mathna, Stanley Mathna, Nancy Piper and Helen Carlson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
