He was predeceased by: his parents, John and Alicia; and his sisters, Catherine and Felicia. He is survived by: his spouse Beverly A. Simms; his children, John M. Simms (Diane), James F. Simms (Pam), Bernadette M. Doyle (Fran) and Beverly A. Carbone (Brad); his grandchildren, Shannon (Jack O'Neil), Gina (Dan Wolfe), Natalie, Brendan, Rebecca, Sophie, Demi, Johnny and Ray; and his great grandchild Danny.

In lieu of flowers contributions in John's name may be made to either: The American Diabetes Association. Or Shane's Kindness Foundation where John and Beverly volunteered their time.
