He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Cottrill and Hannah Kenne Cottrill; and his siblings, James Cottrill, Chester Cottrill, Jr., Thomas Cottrill, David Cottrill, Robert Cottrill and Judy Bender Mackey.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret; his children, Debrah L. Cottrill, William J. Cottrill, Jr. (Sherry) and Michael E. Cottrill (Christine); his grandchildren, Whitney Cottrill, Angelina Cottrill and Maxwell Cottrill; and his sisters, Nancy Podrat Chittister (Bob) and Sandy Brown (Joe).
