He was predeceased by: his brother Thomas M. Tinney. He is survived by: his parents, John "Jack" Tinney and Betty Tinney (Gaitens) of Heidelburg; his sons, Thomas Tinney (Lauren), Michael Tinney (Samantha Hall) and John Tinney (Aubrey); his grandchildren, Levi, Logan and Lincoln Tinney; his siblings, Theresa Stefanick (Glenn) and Patrick Tinney (Diane Wentz); and his pet Lexie. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one's choice, in memory of John.
