She was predeceased by: her spouse Tiburcio "Benny" Ortega Cabrera, Sr.; her parents, Charles Howell and Stella Brooks Howell; and her daughter Mary Sue Butler. She is survived by: her children, Benny L. Ortega, Jr. of Nottingham, Raymond Ortega (Kate) of Elkton, MD, Donnie Ortega, Sr. of Nottingham and Shirley Jean Ortega of Lincoln University; her grandchildren, Michael, Donnie, Jr. (April), Brandon, Aubrey Lyn, Donald and Chris; her great grandchildren, Nick, Jonathan, Jake, Kathleen, Julian, Jackson, Jamison, Jaden and Xavier; and her siblings, Robert Howell of Oxford and Irma Weaver of West Jefferson, NC..
