He was predeceased by: his parents, Myrtle II (Palmer) and Elwood "Smokey" N. Bannon II; and his brother Harry Bannon. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Bannon; his children, Pamela Bannon, Christina Brinton, Jeffrey Bannon and Brian Bannon; his grandchildren, Danielle, Jessica, Taylor, Matthew, Allison, Ryan, Ella, Jack, Rylee and Brooke; and his great grandchildren, Cole and Macie.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Elwood's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
