Joseph D. Steinmetz Jr. Obituary
Joseph D. Steinmetz, Jr. age 78 of Aldan, formerly of SW Philadelphia died Sunday, October 8, 2017. Mr. Steinmetz was born on January 2, 1939, the son of the late Joseph D. and Anna Sheridan. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lois E. (nee Swearinger) and his children, Laura Rispoli, Dan and Edna Steinmetz, and Matt and Barbara Steinmetz.
He was predeceased by his beloved son, Paul who died in 1993. He is also predeceased by his siblings Julia Cosgrove and Charles "Buddy" Steinmetz, 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joe was a bookbinder for many years and was later employed by the Pacifico Group as a parts driver. He was a very social person and had many friends.
He was always "on call" for anyone with a problem or needing help. He could repair almost anything and was most happy when doing so. Joe loved sports and was talented athlete in his younger days. He especially loved following Penn State and West Virginia football. He enjoyed working with his hands, and carpentry was one of his favorite hobbies.
Joe was a kind and gentle person, and his will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service Friday, October 20, 2017 11:00 am at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, Norwood, PA 19074. There will be a viewing at the funeral home Friday, 10-11 am. Burial will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery In lieu of flowers contributions to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Dept. 41831, P.O.
