He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter and Alberta; his wife Dot "Dottie" Ellis (Eichinger); his son Donald Ellis, Jr.; his brother Richard; and his dachshunds, Woody, Bridget and Max.
He is survived by: his children, Patty Resnik (Steve) and Mark (Tina); his grandchildren, Kristen Preston (Tom), Mark Ellis (Monica), Lindsay Resnik (Cody) and Matt Resnik; his great grandchild Aoife; and his siblings-in-law, Ed Eichinger, Bill Eichinger (Debbie), June Ellis and Roe Eichinger. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
