He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald P. and Eva Miller Gorton Sr.; his wife Dolores Switalski Gorton; and his brother-in-law Ed Sterba. He is survived by: his siblings, Samuel Gorton (Mary Lou), Eileen Sterba, Nancy White (Brooks) and John Gorton (Debbie). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
