He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Herbert Altmann Mertz; his siblings, June and Herb; his wife Joan Mertz of Sunbury; his daughters-in-law, Lisa Mertz of Northumberland and Melanie of New Hope; his grandchildren, Daniella Snyder, Cameron Boyd Mertz, Braden Mertz and Janessa Mitterling; his sister Hildegard Mertz Spencer of State College; and his pet Jackson. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
