He was predeceased by: his son John "Stu" Steliga; his parents, Michael Steliga and Mary Steliga (Pelczar); and his sister Emily Klinefelter (Jim). He is survived by: his wife Martha Jane Steliga (Krsul); and his children, Carol Forslund (Joe), Diane Kalina (Tim) and Richard "Litty" Steliga. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
