He was predeceased by: his parents, Ignatius Vella and Josephine Vella (Pace); and his siblings, Salvatore Vella, Joseph Vella, Frank Vella, Pete Vella, Mary Doyle, Livia Tuttoilmondo and Madeline Lawrence.

He is survived by: his children, Michele Luthringer (Dan) of Millcreek and Robert Vella (Christine) of Harrington, Delaware; his sister JoAnn Kaufmann (Charles) of Ohio; his grandchildren, Danny, Matt (Brittani), Karlie and Nicholas (Melina); and his great grandchildren, Bentley, Everley, Callie and Addison. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
