He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Hatfield and Pauline Hatfield. He is survived by: his wife Diana Hatfield; his children, Sarah Hatfield and Charles Hatfield; and his sister Patricia Kopczynski (Hatfield) of Oregon.

He spent time volunteering for McCord Memorial Library, to which memorials may be made in his memory.
