He was predeceased by: his parents, Monroe Purnell and Eliza Jane Purnell (Hammond); and his siblings, James Henry Purnell, Edward Purnell and Doris Purnell.
He is survived by: his daughter Tikka Crawford; his granddaughter Glory Golden; his siblings, Mildred Marie Milbourne, Beulah Mae Massadin and Barley Farrell Purnell; his stepchildren, Dawnne Rouse-Sow and George Rouse A; and his friend Sylvia Bowman. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
