He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Risby and Mary Elizabeth Risby (Dawson); and his sister Bettie Thomas. He is survived by: his close friend Charlotte Thornton (Turner); his son Michael Risby; his stepchildren, James Thornton, Sylvia, Ann Smith, Grover, Toney Thornton, Kirk Thornton (Karen) and Dewayne Thornton (Juliah); and his grandchildren, Dianna, Marcus, Tamica, CaSondra, Tony, Anthony, Hezekiah, Chance, Julianah, Julian, LaToya, Charles, Jamaria, Shelby and Savannah.
