He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis Davis and Melva Putts Davis; his wife Kay Zarker Davis; and his grandchildren, Jeffrey Davis and Heather Davis.
He is survived by: his children, Kathryn Winters, Janice Reed, Donlad Davis Jr., Dale Davis, Keith Davis, David Davis and Jeffrey Davis. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson.
