He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William F. Whelan II and Margaret Smith Whelan; his wife Polly Whelan (Watt); his children, Kimberly Shaud (Robert), Jami Whelan, Katie Whelan and Brian Whelan (Jenny); his grandchildren, Colin, Norah, Keira and Ian; his brother William Whelan; and his brother-in-law Tom Watt (Lucy).
