He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Nichols and Winifred Nichols; his spouse Gail Nichols; and his sister Pearl Smith. He is survived by: his sons, Christopher T. Nichols, Matthew J. Nichols, Mark A. Nichols (Sandra) and Michael E. Nichols (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Stephen (Megan), Alyssa, Laura, Jessica, Andrew (Colleen), Erin, Luke, Connor, Patrick and Quinn; his great grandchildren, Max and Zoey; his close friends, Bonnie Tegethoff and Duke Heinemann; and his brother Anthony Nichols.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, would be appreciated.

“To all the Nichols Family, Bonnie and Duke, Chris , Matt, Mark and Michael, we send our condolences as we just learned of Ed’s passing. Our family was blessed to have Ed as a neighbor in Ocean City. We enjoyed Night In Venice parties in full costume, boat rides and drinks on the dock. Our parents, Carson and Jean, shared love of boating and conversation with Ed. Always the optimist, Ed was a gentleman and shared his joy with everyone. Belatedly, The McCullough, MacFeeters & McCool Families”
