He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Gilbert and Genevieve Hunt Gilbert (Hunt); his wife Annalee Schendorf Gilbert (Lee); and his sister Anne Strong Gilbert Curtin. He is survived by: his children, Susan Gilbert Zencka (Carl) and Jonathan Hunt Gilbert (Marywade); his grandsons, Jason Zencka (Florencia Lauría), Tyler Zencka (Ashley Jurinka) and Corey Zencka (Caitilin McMillan); his great grandchildren, Tomás, Óscar Zencka-Lauría, Johann Jurinka Zencka and Clyde McMillan Zencka; his sister Dorothy Gilbert; and his nephews, Steven Curtin (Christi), Charles G. Curtin and Christopher Curtin.
