He was predeceased by: his parents, Alberto Atanasio and Eusebia Ruiz Atanasio; his wife Francis Ortiz Atanasio; and his sister Marie Atanasio. He is survived by: his children, Samuel Atanasio, Jr. and Eunice Atanasio; his grandchildren, Laila Lane, Lorenzo and Lillyanna Celstino; and his brother Daniel Atanasio. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
