He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos G. Witmer and Mary E. Warner (Henry); and his stepfather Richard R. Warner, Sr.. He is survived by: his spouse Shirley A. Witmer (Flora); his sons, Dennis James "DJ" Witmer, Jr. (John David Brunson) of Middletown, DE and Michael Witmer of New Providence; his grandchildren, Danielle Witmer (Caleb Pousima), Chad Witmer and Davin Caldwell; his brothers, Kenneth E. Witmer of Holtwood and James A. Witmer of Mountville; and his stepsiblings, Richard Warner, Jr. (Cindi) of Arkansas and Marianne Gerlach (Jeff) of Millersville.
