He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy B. Smith; his parents, Louis J. Smith and Stella M. Dennis (Clemens); his son Joseph Smith; and his siblings, Charles, Louis Smith, Patsy Faloni, Doris Clark and Nancy Williams.
He is survived by: his children, Daniel E. Smith of Frederick, MD, Kenneth J. Smith (Shelby) of New Oxford and Kathleen M. Moyer of Loris, SC; and his sister Mary Jean Neiderer of New Oxford. He is also survived by six grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.
