He was predeceased by : his wife Joan Marie Merrel (Hockensmith); his parents, Harry E. II and Althea Merrel (Frankenfield); his son Robert A. Merrel; his siblings, John Merrel and Jean Bettger; and his pet Topper.

He is survived by : his children, Deborah A. Hagerman (Jeffrey) of Hanover, James A. Merrel of East Berlin, Brenda M. Kirby of East Berlin and Thomas E. Merrel (Joyce). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Viewing was held on Wednesday, June 19th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Feiser Funeral Home (302 Lincoln Way W, New Oxford, PA 17350). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 19th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray the cost of the funeral.
