He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. George Sr. and Margaret Conway George; his sister Mary Shoop (Sharon Konesky); and his great grandchild Lukas Marsh. He is survived by: his wife Lois C. Cope George; his children, Mark George (JoAnn) of Lower Burrell, John R. George (Diane) of Tarentum and Karen Beatty (Ted) of Elderton; and his siblings, Elizabeth Sowers of Erie, Sally Truax (Marshall) of Springdale, Donna Alcorn (Pete) of Cheswick and Charles George (Carol) of O'Steen, FL.. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren.
