He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Carnahan and Doris Carnahan (Adamson); his daughter Jamie Sue Burga; and his siblings, James Carnahan and Lois Yonce.
He is survived by: his wife Norma Jean Poe Carnahan; his children, John R. Carnahan Jr., Jill L. Carnahan, Jean Marie Kiehl and Janet L. Rossi (Tony); and his sister Mary Louise Soulcheck. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
