He was predeceased by: his parents, L. G. Shirk and Margaret Shirk (Hoffman); his wife Minerva R. Shirk; and his siblings, Helen Hoffman and Willis Shirk.
He is survived by: his children, Larry Shirk (Trudy) and Cheryl (Robert Hackman). He is also survived by three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
