He was predeceased by: his parents, Elsie "Gert" (Whippert) and James Simmons, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Charlene; his sons, John "Scott" Simmons, Jr. (Taelor), Brian Simmons (Elisabeth) and Richard "Jeremiah" Simmons; and his siblings, Jim Simmons, Jr., Deb Toler, Tim Simmons and Mark Simmons. He is also survived by three step-daughters.
