He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert F. Hale and Minetta Hale (Altman); his siblings, Phyllis Jordan and James Hale; his children-in-law, Jeffrey Earl and Dale Hale; and his grandson Garrett Magazzine.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Lou McCleary; his children, Lori Sager (Joseph) of New Castle, PA, Mary Earl of New Castle, PA, Michael Hale of Frederick, MD and Ronald Hale (Gail) of Damascus, MD.; and his grandchildren, Michael Hale, Emily Hale, Caitlin Hale, Cory Magazzine and Joseph Sager, Jr. (Olivia).
