He was predeceased by: his parents, William Brinkworth and Mary Brinkworth (McKelvey); and his son Stephen Finney. He is survived by: his wife Maryann Good (Serb); his children, Kimberly Bartol (John), Robert J. Jr. Good (Debbie), Marie "Mimi" Renkenberger, April McDowell and Curtis Finney; and his sister Delores "Dee" Petty. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
