He was predeceased by: his brothers, Don Patrick, Gregory Robert and Shawn Edward Knowlton. He is survived by: his parents, Ralph L. Knowlton Jr. and Marilyn S. Russell; his wife Bonnie S. Knowlton (Kirkbride); his sons, Ralph L. Knowlton IV and Gerald G. Knowlton; his grandson Aaron Richard Knowlton; and his siblings, Shawn Patrick Russell (Melissa), Jason Knowlton and Michelle Lynn Russell. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
